Dr. Megan Frankowski is a Program Director in the Division of Translational Research at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. She is also a team lead for the Neuromodulation and Recording Technologies and Therapeutic Human Neuroscience Team within the trans-NIH Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies® (BRAIN) Initiative. In her role as Program Director, she oversees a portfolio of grants and cooperative agreements. Projects within her portfolio are late stage translational efforts focused on advancing implantable neurostimulation and recording technologies for use in neuropsychiatric disorders, traumatic brain injury, Alzheimers Disease and related dementias, and brain tumor. Prior to joining NINDS, Megan received a Bachelors in psychology from Emory University, a PhD in affective neuroscience from the University of Georgia, and post-doctoral training in the Department of Neurosurgery at Baylor College of Medicine. Her prior work focused on investigating brain circuitry mediating normal and abnormal mood states using neuroimaging methods (fMRI, EEG) and deep brain stimulation.
