Postdoctoral Fellow
Open Source Hardware Association (OSHWA)
Yves is an engineer by training and global citizen by choice, who has a deep seeded interest in health-related technologies. Yves received his PhD in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan, where he focused on identifying properties of the human knee that could be recreated in wearable robots, such as prosthetics and exoskeletons, therefore producing more human like behavior from these systems. He has also obtained master’s and bachelor's degrees from Northwestern University and the University of Maryland Baltimore County respectively. Currently, Yves serves as a researcher at both Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) and the Open Source Hardware Association (OSHWA). At Walter Reed, he investigates utilizing electromechanical systems to explore biomechanical based outcome data for soldiers who have experienced extremity trauma. At OSHWA, he focuses on creating policies that facilitate support and understanding of the emerging open-source health hardware community. Yves’ passion for people is something he channels into his work daily; creating products and policies that broaden access to both the open-source hardware community and health related technologies for all.
