John is currently the Head of Incubator Program at Nexus Neurotech Ventures. Prior to this role, John served as Head of Operations, Health Platforms at Verily Life Sciences (Alphabet’s healthcare company, formerly Google Life Sciences) where he was responsible for leading product and business operations across a diverse portfolio, several commercial device development programs and, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Verily's Baseline COVID-19 and Healthy@Work testing programs that served millions of users. Before Verily, John spent five years at Apple, leading the development of several Apple Watch modules from prototype through engineering, design, and production validation. Prior to Watch, he was responsible for iPhone New Product Introduction Operations across Asia. Early in his career, he gained experience on both sides of licensing academic intellectual property, first as a biotech entrepreneur and then as an Associate Director of a university technology commercialization office.
John simultaneously earned a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering and an M.B.A. from the University of South Carolina, where he was honored as a Biomedical Science Scholar and received the W. Morgan Newton award for research excellence. He received a B.S. with Honors in Chemistry from Erskine College.
