Dr. Hamid Charkhkar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Case Western Reserve University and a research investigator at the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center's Advanced Platform Technology Center. His research focuses on developing innovative neuroprosthetic technologies designed to enhance sensorimotor function and improve rehabilitation outcomes for individuals with limb loss and neuromusculoskeletal conditions.
Dr. Charkhkar directs the Restoring Lower Limb Neural Connection (ReLLiNC) laboratory, where his team specializes in integrating prosthetic limbs with the human peripheral nervous system. His translational research aims to bridge the gap between neural technologies and practical clinical solutions, particularly for people with lower limb loss.
Dr. Charkhkar earned his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from George Mason University (Fairfax, VA) and completed postdoctoral training at Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, OH). He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and regularly serves as an invited reviewer for over 35 scientific journals and professional conferences. He also serves as the Director of Limb Loss and Prosthetics Research at the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio.
